Weekly Update for May 7th, 2018

Greetings!

As we head into the month of May, we have a number of activities happening in and around Lynch.

- This week our fourth and fifth grade students take part in the math portion of MCAS. As always, we strongly encourage a great night's sleep and healthy breakfast prior to school to insure the students are prepared.

- Throughout the month of May, Lynch is participating with Winchester's "Got Lunch" program to support the summer months and our community. Please feel free to bring any boxes of pasta to school and drop them off in our main hallway where containers will be.

- On Wednesday, May 9th we will celebrate Bike to School Day at Lynch. You may even see me and Lynch teacher Mr. Flaherty riding through our Lynch neighborhood on Wednesday morning to support our students and make sure everyone is riding safely (wear your helmets!).

- Our kindergarten, first and second grade students will perform in the annual spring music concert on Wednesday, May 16th at 6:30pm in the Lynch dining room.

- To support the Jimmy Fund, we will hold our annual "Kickballapalooza" on Thursday, May 17th from 3:00-4:15pm. I recently sent out an email with information and permission slips for your students to stay with us after school for kickball games on the field. All of our money raised goes to the Jimmy Fund.

Highlights from the week:

I received a wonderful email with some great pictures of Lynchies out helping the Winchester community by cleaning up trash near the Aberjona river.

Author Mike Lupica came by on Thursday to present and talk about inspirations for his children stories. http://www.mikelupicabooks.com/

During our All School Meeting on Friday morning we had a few 4th grade Lynchies present on the upcoming "Relay for Life" event. In this picture, special guest Dr. John (who is also a Winchester parent) presents on the importance of funds raised for cancer research and teamwork!

Have a great week!

Mr. Dupuis
