Weekly Update for November 6th, 2017

Greetings!

Happy November. Hopefully everyone had a nice Halloween and transition to November. Amazing to think that it is that time of year where the clock is ticking towards Thanksgiving (my personal favorite holiday) and winter weeks ahead.

Professional Day for Winchester Teachers (Tuesday, November 7th):

Tuesday students will not be attending school in Winchester. This professional development day gives all of the staff in Winchester an opportunity to....well......develop! I can say from first-hand experience how important days like this are to us as educators. Many of us attend workshops, classes and seminars outside of the district. In-district development is largely led by our own Winchester teachers (Mrs. Bove and I will be leading a session titled: "Supporting our Students: Working with the Anxious Child").

Kudos to Winchester Assistant Superintendent - Dr. Jennifer Elineema who organizes this and other professional development opportunities throughout the school year and summer months.

Below is a very short list of  sessions available (There are roughly 47 !! sessions offered during the day) for Winchester staff members:

Supporting Executive Functions in the Inclusion Classroom

Elementary Literacy Data Analysis

Physical Science for Elementary Teachers

Performance based working group

Speak Up at School: How to Respond to Prejudice, Bias and Stereotypes

Pictures from the week:

A small group of 4th graders work on fraction equivalency on Chrome Books.

A picture from the perspective of a 4th grader. Students are able to work in different and flexible parts of the classroom.

Grade 2 students take a break from academics to participate in some yoga techniques.

Have a great week ahead!

Mr. Dupuis
