Weekly update for December 21st, 2015

Greetings all. I truly hope during the upcoming vacation you are able to have moments that bring a smile or some laughter. Our family uses the holiday break to recharge, spend time doing fun activities and build up those traditions in our children that were given to us in our youth. We already have our 4 year old daughter exclaiming, "Dad, this is really my favorite time of year!"
Where ever you go or if you just spend days in pajamas or sweatpants at home, I hope all is healthy and positive....

A few notes to highlight:

- Thank you to all of the students and faculty that donated to wear a hat on Friday (12/18). Our 5th grade student council organized and collected over $315.00. All funds went directly to the Federation for Children with Special Needs http://fcsn.org/ . Thank you to also Mrs. Phelan who helped initiate this project.

- Looking forward to January, we will have our annual food drive to help replenish the shelves at the Woburn Council of Social Concern.

This is an annual event/program that we as a community take pride in. There will be a kick-off helping promote and explain the drive at our All-School meeting on Friday, January 8th.

- Lastly, below are the scheduled dates for the first session of MCAS ELA testing (English Language Arts).  The window for testing (for all of Massachusetts) is from March 28th to April 12th. Attendance is mandatory and if a student misses a testing date, they are required to make up the next available school day.
As you may have read or learned, there will be no grade 4 long comp assessment this school year.
